
The high demand for penthouses in the core serves as a backdrop to the recent deal that Aspen Core Ventures and managing partner Nikos Hecht made with City Council this week to save two Aspen landmarks in exchange for an approval to build a 6,900-square-foot condo on the third floor of a new mixed-use building. The citys land-use code currently caps downtown residential units at 2,500 square feet.
